Need to start from basics sometimes

Rajiv, you mentioned that we may be going to brush up on email operation and attachments. A few people including myself seem to be interested in doing this. I would also like to learn more about tool bars and organising basic settings on my computer. You have set my computer up to open our blog as well as my Big Pond sites each time I go into the internet. Coral's goes straight to google as the Big Pond people who came to connect her did not make hers go straight to Big Pond as they did mine. I am sure all this is quite easy but I have never had to set up a computer from scratch. Also the short cuts for some web pages can be on the desk top or on the bottom of the screen. Would like to learn the easiest way to do this. Maybe other people as well as myself would benefit from some very basic computer set up instructions. Another amazing thing that has happened to me is that when I posted a comment on Allan's post my photo has appeared on it. Don't ask me how I did this. Still haven't managed to get the photo to the right place! Anyway, I think this is all lots of fun and I do enjoy our classes

April give away computer

Hi everyone, I have spoken to Bev Harmer in Maple re receiving a gift computer. She is over awed that we would think of her to receive a computer in April. She would be a worthy person to receive one. Allan Jordan

Questions and information for Rajiv,
I have send you an E-Mail Thursday night with a lot of questions which I could not past into this blog as it had some print screens in it. Can you show us how to do it?
I have increased my computer from 1 RAM to 3 Ram last week and it seems to go a lot faster. Anyway I am very happy with it.
I had to invest into new printer scanner and now have a Canon MX870
I have installed ; "Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006 Edition" and now can scan directly to my E-Mail but only with Outlook Express but I also like to do it with Windows Live Mail.
That is the E-Mail all about. May be you can discus it in class on Saturday morning.

More questions??

Sorry for so many questions. I know you may not be able to answer them all in class but maybe on the blog would be OK.

I have downloaded cross loop andCPU-Z from filehippo but do not understand the difference between downloading and installing. (I didn't install anything)
When downloading a program what is the difference between run and save? Does run add it to my computer programs.
What is my download folder for as it seems to be empty. Thought downloads would go there.

Well that is all for now. Am going to let my poor tired brain have a rest.

See you all soon

Information for Rajiv

Rajiv I have had two new people inquire about our computer club. They will both be coming on Saturday. Both have computers but no notebooks although one said that maybe he should purchase one. They both have been using computers for some time and I think been to some classes for different interests but I don't know what they are interested in learning. Will just have to wait and see.

Also Bev is not able to use our blog as she still hasn't got her dashboard issue solved. Hopefully she will be back on Saturday and this can be fixed. Bev also is interested in learning how to burn a CD or copy music from a CD. I think she mentioned something about a MP3?? Not sure. We have spent time on this but I think a refresh for some of us would be good sometime.

Am looking forward to seeing you on Saturday
Good morning Rajiv,
Could you please discuss these questions in Saturday class?
Would it be possible to do them first up as I have to leave early, not later then 11 30 am.
Questions for class 5-03-2011
No 1) Why is a memory stick formatted in FAT, while a external hard drive is formatted in NTFS.
No 2) Is there a safe way of deleting something from your memory stick without deleting it from my hard drive?
No 3) Only with one contact on Skype I have the following problem. They can not see me but can hear me, but I can hear and see them. They get the following message: “Can not start video Rendere, please check if you have a valid Direct X installed”. They run windows XP.
We also use Logitech VID and we have no problem in hearing and seeing each other! They have been told to update Direct X. I do not know what Direct X they have; I have 9.0 as I run XP. I also run Windows Live Messenger and have no problem with neither of the other programs with my other contacts. If they have a problem with their Direct X and because of that Skype is not working, why is Logitech working? Is Logitech not using Direct X?
Wendy is having problems with Skype as well, so may be we can make it a Skype class next Saturday!
No 4) What is the difference between a one core and a two core system?
I have a two core system
No 5) Some weeks ago you were talking about CPUID and were going to post a link on our Blog. Could you explain to us again what it is all about please?
No 6) What is the main cause that Shockwave plugin and Adobe plugin crashes?
I really enjoy the computer classes.
